Special Olympics Victory Dance

After the Craven County Special Olympics Spring Games were completed The We Can Civitan Club out of New Bern, NC, threw a fabulous Victory Dance for the athletes on Friday, May 17th. With the enlisted help of the Tryon Civitan Club we had a fun evening of dancing and socializing. Invites were given to the We Can members, handed out to the attendees of the ARC Bingo night and handed out to the Athletes at the Spring Games. There were a total of 64 guests in attendance. We started off the evening with yummy refreshments and a slide show of pictures taken throughout the Spring Games. Who doesn’t like to see their picture up on the big screen? Then the shoes were kicked off and we started to dance. We danced to a wide variety of artists including a fan favorite of Michael Jackson! Have to have some Thriller playing! DJ Missy even took requests. There were a few times the same song was requested

multiple times in a row. Some of the attendees were on the dance floor almost the entire time.

There was a safari themed photo booth set up as well. Props were borrowed from the Winterville Civitan Club. Guests had fun with boas, hats, fans, glasses and more. Photos were taken for scrapbooks.

You know you had a successful event when the party officially ended at 8pm and there are still guests enjoying themselves at 8:10. We are already thinking about ideas for next year.
