Craven County Polar Plunge

Well we raised over $4,000 for Special Olympics!! We had lots of volunteers helping everyone get registered and we had lots of wonderful Plungers!

Thank you to all of the volunteers for helping to make this event a huge success! We have our eye on next year to be even bigger!!

Tryon Civitan Club will have a team in the first annual Craven County Polar Plunge to benefit Craven County Special Olympics to be held on January 21 at 10 a.m. at Courts Plus (many thanks to our Tryon Civitan member, Jan Stelma, owner of Courts Plus, for agreeing to let us use their outdoor pool for this event). We can have 6 members on our team, Tryon Not to Freeze!, and so far, we have 5 signed up (Mack Paul, Leigh Wilkinson, Kathi Whitfield, Pierre Winkler and Kristina Winkler). We would love to have 1 more join us! Each team will plunge together and will be announced by the EmCee. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET MORE INDIVIDUALS AND TEAMS REGISTERED FOR OUR POLAR PLUNGE: As of today, we've raised over $1,000 with only 2 teams registered – which is good, but we want to get the word out to others. Please share the attached flier with your co-workers, church, exercise class, BUNCO or book club group – everyone! We want folks there so we can meet our goal of raising at least $5,000 for Craven County Special Olympics. Please help!

We also need volunteers who can help with setting up, registering on-site participants, help give T-shirts to folks who've raised at least $25, assist with entry and exit from the pool, etc. Let me know if you can help. Volunteers need to arrive at Courts Plus on January 21 by 8 a.m. to help set up. Plunging should start at 10 and we hope to be done by 11:30.
