TRENT JUNIOR CIVITAN CLUB CHARTER CELEBRATION

The Charter Celebration for this new Junior Civitan Club on Monday, April 20, at the Twin Rivers

YMCA was an exciting time as we welcomed 22 new Junior Civitans. Many thanks to Club

Advisors Scott and Monica Wilson and to Club Builders Loriann Harker and Scott Wilson!

NCDE Governor Andy Leggette initiated the new Junior Civitans and NCDE Junior Civitan Lt.

Governor for Divisions 5&6 (and newly elected 2015-16 Junior Civitan Governor!) Emmi

Romero of Craven Early College Junior Civitan Club installed the Charter officers and

Directors. Tryon Civitan Club was well represented at the event with: President Kathi

Whitfield, President-Elect Loriann Harker, Beth Atkins, Leigh Wilkinson, Scott Wilson

and Kristina Winkler attending. Also attending were Velvet Leggette, Junior Civitan Cochair for NCDE, Luz Hernandez, President of the Craven Early College Junior Civitan Club

and Chaplain for NCDE Junior Civitan, and Margaret and Joe Chance, members of the We

Can Civitan Club (and parents of Charter President Emily Chance and Charter Chaplain Katie

Chance of TRENT). This new Junior Civitan Club is a community-based (as opposed to

school-based) Junior Civitan Club – the first one ever for the Craven, Jones, and Pamlico area.

The members of TRENT are Middle Schoolers, High Schoolers, Home Schoolers, and Special

Needs students. Meetings are held monthly on the third Monday at 6:30 at the YMCA – except

that on May 18, they plan to do a clean sweep of Flanner's Beach followed by a cookout. If you

know students in middle or high schools where there is not a Junior Civitan Club or who

are home schooled, then please invite them to join. For more information, please contact

Scott Wilson (scott.wilson@firstcitizens.com) or Monica Wilson (sewmow93@gmail.com)
