INTERFAITH REFUGEE MINISTRY COLLECTION DRIVE

During the month of January, Tryon Civitan Club members collected items for donation to the Interfaith Refugee Ministry. Many thanks to Shirley Wang for chairing this collection drive and to Pat Drake and Mack Paul for allowing us to use the UPS Store as our drop-off spot for collected items once again. On February 5, several HAPPY Civitans delivered to Susan Husson at Interfaith Refugee Ministry a carload full of the items they had requested, including household tools, pots and pans, umbrellas, warm blankets, and bedding – as well as a check for $400 as a donation from our club (in addition to some monetary donations received from individual Tryon Civitan members). Remember that they have these needs year-round and will accept gently used or new items, so before you throw something out that you've used in your home, think about donating it to Interfaith instead. They use these items to help refugees – who come here with nothing – set up a home in their new community.
